332nd Bomb Squadron

The 332nd Bomb Squadron in WWII was a unit of the 477th Bombardment Group, composed of African American Tuskegee Airmen, trained in the U.S. on B-25s and B-26s but never deployed for combat as the war ended, though they faced discrimination and the famous Freeman Field Mutiny before the war's close. They are often confused with the famed 332nd Fighter Group (Red Tails), which did see extensive combat escorting bombers in Europe, gaining legendary status for protecting bombers and shooting down enemy jets.
