824th Bomb Squadron


The 824th Bombardment Squadron (Heavy), activated in September 1943, flew B-24 Liberators from Torretto Airfield, Italy, as part of the 484th Bomb Group in the 15th Air Force. It conducted strategic bombing of oil, industry, and communications in Europe from April 1944 to May 1945, earning two Distinguished Unit Citations.
