426th Night Fighter Squadron

Formed in January 1944 at Hammer Field, California, the 426th Night Fighter Squadron was the first unit fully trained on the Northrop P-61 Black Widow, serving in the China-Burma-India (CBI) Theater. They provided crucial defense for B-29 Superfortresses, conducted night intruder missions, and operated from bases in India and China.
