426th Night Fighter Squadron 

The 426th Night Fighter Squadron was activated on January 1, 1944, in Hammer Field, California, becoming the first unit trained on the Northrop P-61 Black Widow for the China-Burma-India Theater. Assigned to the Tenth and Fourteenth Air Forces, they protected B-29 Superfortresses, conducted night intruder missions, and performed ground attacks before inactivating on November 5, 1945.
